done,done,done,done

yeah it's over. it sucks. i was so excited about everything that had to do with this band. maybe we could have really done something. we got a little notice, recognition somewhat. but life doesn't always give you want you want. we all wanna do something. wish in one hand, shit in the other. but it's alright. we ended it all on good terms and we're all still good friends. lisa moved to cleveland and johnny is about to have a second child and agreeably that's more important than our silly little rock band. we are all still good friends and you never know when another project may occur. we still have plenty of cd's if anyone's interested. and most importantly thanks to everyone who has supported us. sorry to disappointment you. oh we still got t-shirts too. you could wear one and whenever anyone asked you could tell them what a great band we were. as journey once said, "don't stop believin". thank you, mat

That about does it for us...

Well, what a great year (or so) it's been being a band for you guys. Unfortunately, we're throwing in the towel. Lisa's relocating with her job, and my lovely wife and I are about to have our second child. I hope we've made a dent in the crowded music scene here in Louisville, Kentucky.

We'll miss rocking your collective asses. Stay tuned for what comes next.

ONE LAST CHANCE to see us live! Friday, Feb. 24th at 9:30pm. The Rudyard Kipling. Also bidding you adieu is The Pine Club. We hope to see you all there! Thanks again for your support.

Judge an album by it's cover...

Just wanted to toot our horns a bit. Our CD, "Binary" and the CD release poster have been awarded a silver award by the Louisville Graphic Design Association (LGDA) in their 100 Show. Quite the honor. Thanks to the great designers at Hatch Creative {ahem} for doing us up so nicely.

Also, Velocity Weekly has given us props as well:

"Best CD Packaging: With the whole rock world seemingly going '80s, Reading kicked it up a notch with its debut album packaged to look like an old floppy disk. Brilliant."

Thanks, Velociteers, but it looks like an old floppy disk, because it IS one...heh heh. Go see for yourself.

Another song down

We recorded "Day After Derby" for this year's Louisville is for Lovers compilation over the past couple weeks. The funnest part of that, is that there were never more than 2 of us in the studio at the same time. Isn't technology fun?

Jordan Forst (of the beloved band Adventure) manned the controls and made us sound spectacular again. The band actually let me double the drum parts in the grand finale. Aren't band members nice? The final minute or so of the song sounds as huge as something that's really really big. You'll cry.

That's all I got. The comp will be out in February as far as I know.

See...we *TOLD* you we were the best...

Thanks for voting us Louisville's "Best Local Band" in Velocity. If you haven't seen it yet, go pick one up this week, or just keep on reading: (pun intended)

------------------------------------

We asked for the best local band.

The winner: Reading.

Our take: The kids get a little bit of everything from Reading. Singer/guitarist Mat Shalenko wields his screeching, brayingguitar like J. Mascis, and keyboardist Lisa Wilson's dazzling keys and background vocals shine an angelic glow over the post-punk chaos. (Listen for yourself on the Velocity Jukebox at www.velocityweekly.com)

long time no blog

well it's almost october, our cd is available and we're opening tomorrow for spottiswoode and his enemies. it should be interesting, i don't know too much about them. not too much else to report. we would like to thank everybody that came out to the release show. if you weren't there you missed a great time but don't worry were not mad at you. i can't really think of anything else to write right now. it's like in junior high when my girlfriend would write these long ass notes like two pages and then i'd write back like a paragraph. sorry so short, mat
